Dynamic work
I’ve been editing videos for personal and professional use since 2019. I work most often in Premiere, Illustrator, and Meta’s Edits app. Below are a few samples.
Enjoy!
strait jacket Comedy Show
This was the first ad for a comedy show that I ran with my friend and collaborator, Jonathan Webb. Independent comedy shows are arguably one of the most hated event archetypes in New York City today. As a result, advertising efforts for these shows have become increasingly desperate.
This ad, which was made for and posted exclusively on Instagram, is my answer to the thinly-veiled desperation we’ve seen across the marketing efforts of so many other shows.
And the answer is, yes, I did need help getting out of the strait jacket.
urgent care visit
When I was laid off, I was developing a documentary on Adult Animation and the significant role that Adult Swim played in shaping that industry and American Culture as a whole. I can still talk about it for days.
Across every article and book I read, every documentary and interview I watched, every podcast I listened to, there was one consistent message:
If you want to make a cartoon, just go out and do it.
That’s where this came from. The writing and performance are mediocre at best, but the goal was to make a cartoon, even if only a minute long.
This is the result of wanting to do it my own way. Instead of learning a new program, I drew everything by hand using a Wacom tablet and Adobe Illustrator. Every background, every eye, mouth, and limb movement, and so on. After that, I created frames one at a time and imported them to a timeline in Adobe Premiere, then manually synced it up with the audio track.
Next time I animate, I’ll learn a proper program. But this felt good to make.
Repurposed Parking Ticket
This was my first project in Meta’s Edits app, and it came out exactly as I’d envisioned. It’s one of my favorite projects. It didn’t get a ton of views and it doesn’t demonstrate any writing ability. It comes at you fast and most people can’t explain why they laugh at it. I love it.
Yes, that is a real NYPD officer. I have no idea if he’s the one who wrote this ticket. However, his photo came up when I Googled the name on the ticket, and the name on his badge matches, so here we are. It’s not like I’m saying anything bad about him. I actually made him seem like a pretty cool guy!
Officer Bhuiyan, if you’re reading this, thank you for being my inspiration and creative muse.
stand up comedy
I’ve been doing stand up comedy for almost five years. It’s my favorite thing to talk about, except for when it isn’t.
This is a riff from a show that was over a year ago. I still find it funny, but it was off the cuff, and I don’t think I’ve talked about lasagna on stage since. I’m including this to show my comfort and ability with public speaking. I edit all my own clips, so if you like this simple, straightforward editing style, I can make it happen again.
Also, if you like this joke, check out the other clips on my Instagram! Message me and come to a show! I’m passionate about comedy to a near-obsessive extent, and it would mean the world to have you in the audience.
